Haters gonna read.
Inspired by her two sons who hated reading (and their frequent brainstorming sessions about how to trick adults into thinking they were) author, Beth Bacon, decided to publish a book that used their own words against them. She asked Headquarters to design it.
A graphic approach that walks the line between visual and verbal, combined with a minimal, bright color palette makes the book so enjoyable kids don’t realize they’re reading it.
“This project posed a very unique creative challenge: illustrate a picture book without actual pictures. Headquarters perfectly captured the attention of reluctant readers with a visual approach that is playful, imaginative, and incredibly clever.”
